The four common reasons: the line was busy, nobody answered, the number reaches a voice line rather than a fax machine, or the receiving machine ran out of paper. In every case your pages are refunded automatically and we retry up to three times at no cost. Open the fax and tap the transmission log to see the exact result code.
PDF, Word (.doc/.docx), Excel (.xls/.xlsx), PowerPoint (.ppt/.pptx), Pages, Numbers, Keynote, JPG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, TXT, RTF, CSV and HTML. Office files convert automatically before sending — you don't need to export to PDF first.
Yes. Select more than one file in the picker and they're stacked in the order you chose. Reorder by dragging the thumbnails on the compose screen before sending.
Open any page in the editor and tap Split. If the document contains several distinct forms we suggest the boundaries automatically, or you can pick page ranges yourself. Each part sends as its own fax with its own receipt.
Fine (196 dpi) is the default and right for almost everything. Standard (98 dpi) transmits faster on very old machines. HD (300 dpi) is on Premium, but a small number of older machines reject it — if a send fails on HD, try Fine. All three cost the same.
Yes. On the compose screen tap Schedule and pick a date and time. Scheduled faxes send in the recipient's local time zone — the usual fix for a line that is always busy first thing in the morning.
Some offices answer the fax line with a person. Turn this on and we play a short recorded prompt asking them to press start, then begin the transmission. Useful for small clinics and law offices.
Settings → My Numbers → Add a Number. Pick a country, then an area code or city, and choose from the available list. US and Canadian numbers activate immediately. Numbers in some other countries require proof of identity and a local address first.
Telecoms regulators in those countries require the holder of a number to prove identity and a local address. Germany additionally requires proof of address dated within the last three months. We collect these in the app and submit them for you — and you are not charged until the number is approved.
Yes, and porting is free. Your old line stays active until the port completes, usually 7 to 14 business days.
Open the fax and tap Block This Sender, or go to Settings → Blocked Senders. Blocked numbers are rejected before they consume any of your pages. You can also turn on junk filtering, which routes suspected advertising to a separate folder.
Yes, on Business. Turn on the shared inbox and every team member sees incoming faxes. Each person's actions are recorded in the audit trail.
Pages are held when you press send and deducted only when the receiving machine confirms delivery. Nothing is charged on a failed send. Every charge and refund is in Settings → Pages & Billing → Transaction History, and each line links to the fax it belongs to.
Page packs never expire. Subscription pages reset monthly and don't roll over.
Settings → Subscription → Cancel Subscription. That opens your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, which is where the billing relationship actually lives. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for — we never cut access short.
No, and this catches people out. Apple and Google control app subscriptions and we can't cancel one on your behalf. Cancel the subscription first, then delete the account.
Failed sends refund automatically without you asking. For anything else, contact support — we reply within 24 hours. Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are refunded by them, and we'll point you to the right form.
